Dating back to at least the sixteenth century the twin villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo face each other over the banks of the River Yealm Estury. Situated in the South Hams, Devon just half an hour from the centre of Plymouth the villages supporty a thriving tradition villahge community as well as visitors from all over the world.
Despite their small size the villages have many ammenities, including a village primary, nursery, garage, butcher, chemist, Yacht Club, and three pubs. Further down the river there is a pontoon and permenant/holiday moorings. The villages also house a central campsite, hotel, B & Bs and holiday lets.
The village community is demonstrated through frequent events, such as sports, the duck race and most famously the annual summer regatta, featuring the famous 'beer race' and end fireworks display.
